Some of the FAQ's which you need to consider are:

What are the levels of tilt / adjustability?

Some electric chairs can recline to an flat position, these chairs are know as a chair bed. You will also need to consider how high the chair will raise to aid exiting the chair. Consider the purpose of the chair if you are looking for a chair to sleep in consider a chair bed, if you are looking for a chair to aid exiting then consider the hight to which it raises. Some chair will raise you to an almost standing position.

Do they come in different sizes?

Yes. You should consider your size before buying. Both your height and weight can determine the type of chair your purchase. A chair for a short person may not offer the right levels of comfort for a tall person. Most chairs will also have a maximum weight, therefor this must be considered.

What type of controls does the chair have?

Modern riser recliner chairs are electrically operated by pressing the relevant button on the handset. The control can be used to raise and lower the chair. When the chair is in the seated position the handset can be used to raise the chair to the maximum hight enabling you to perch on the seat an lower to the desired position.  when you want to stand up press the relevant button and raise the chair to maximum height to exit the chair.

Controls for the chair can have as little as two buttons to control the up and down action of the chair. For more luxurious models of which may have features such as a heat and massage system as well as dual motors, the handset will have more buttons. Before buying ensure you are able to operate the control.

How many motors does the chair have?

Riser Chairs usually come with one or two motors. If you are content with the footrest and backrest adjusting at the same time then a one motor chair would most probably be suitable. If you require the back and foot rest to move independently of one another than a two motor chair would be more suitable.  Chairs with two motors are usually more expensive, but they do offer more positions so that you can find your ideal seating position.

What extras can I have?

There are many extras which are available for riser chairs including heat and message, additional pockets, various cloth colour options, and leather upholstery. Consider what furniture you currently have in your room to ensure the chair fit in.

What happens if there is a power cut?

Most modern riser recliner chairs have a built in battery back up system, so that in the event of a power cut the user is not stranded either in a seated or standing position. Check this is the case for you new chair.
